Short Breaks Programme of Activities for Disabled Children

Please call 01724 407988 at least eight days before the activity to book your child’s place. A maximum of six sessions can be booked in advance.

Your child will not be able to attend if you have not booked on or if an ‘All about Me’ Information Form has not been completed and returned.

Under 8’s
Please note that due to registration requirements children under the age of eight years of age are only able to stay at activities for up to two hours.

 

Activities at a glance

We can provide food for the activities at the following venues: All Hubs, Blossom Lodge, St Hugh’s, St Luke’s. If your child/young person would like a snack at sessions, we can provide food for a 50p donation, example toast/beans on toast, juice/water.

Hubs, Children Centres, Youth Clubs and Amber Gateway for ages 5 to 17 year olds.
Activities: please note – different venues will have different equipment for use in activities

Blossom Lodge Transitional Group for ages 12 to 17 years

Blossom Lodge Youngers Group for ages 5 to 12 years

The PODS – for ages 5 to 17 years

  • Sports (Sports Hall 1.30pm to 2pm)
  • Swimming (2.15pm to 3.15pm

St Hugh’s – for year 7 to 17 years old

St Luke’s – for ages 5 to 12 years

Scunthorpe Bowl: – for ages 5 to 17 years (If you would like your child/young person to have their evening meal at the venue, please provide them with a pack-up or cash to order food from the menu)

Supported Public Activities – Short Breaks staff will be present at these activities to support your child/young person:

  • Crowle Boxing Club (inclusive boxing) for ages 8+ years.  There is a charge of £3 by Crowle Boxing for this activity which needs to be paid to them directly.
  • Park Library Youth Provisions for ages 8 to 12 years old.
  • Work experience at Park Library for ages 16 and 17 year olds only.
  • Work experience at Magic Moments for ages 16 and 17 year olds only – certificate in the following will be achieved from this work experience: Food hygiene level 1, Health and Safety, First Aid. This is a set 3 month work experience programme and regular attendance is required.

The venues highlighted with * do not have portable changing beds and/or hoisting equipment. All venues have disabled toilets.

Monday

  • St Hughs older group (year 7 to 17 yrs olds) 3.30pm – 5.30pm – TERM TIME ONLY
  • Blossom youngers group (5 to 12 yrs) 6pm – 8pm

Tuesday

  • Amber Gateway – 5pm – 7.30pm
  • Alternating: *Baysgarth Hub – 5pm – 7.30pm / *Crowle Children Centre – 5pm – 7.30pm
  • *Work experience at Magic Moments (16+ only) 1pm to 3pm

(Dates for alternating activities: Crowle Children’s Centre – Jan 7 & 21. Feb 4 & 18. Mar 3, 17,31. Baysgarth Hub – Jan 14 & 28. Feb 11 & 25. Mar 10 & 24.)

Wednesday

  • *Bowling 5.30pm – 7.30pm
  • *Park Library youth Provisions (8 to 12 years) – 3.30pm – 5pm
  • *Work experience at Park Library Youth Provisions (16+ only) – 3.30pm – 5pm
  • *Crowle Boxing Club (Inclusive Boxing for 8+ yrs) – 6pm – 7.30pm

Thursday

  • St Lukes youngers group (5 to 12 yrs) 3.30pm – 5.30pm – TERM TIME ONLY
  • Blossom Lodge olders group (year 7 to 17 yrs olds) 6pm – 8pm

Friday/Saturday – no activities

Sunday

  • Brigg Youth Club – 10am – 12pm
  • PODS Leisure – 1.30pm-3.15pm
