Archive Consultation - Short Breaks for Disabled Children

Consultation now closed

The first of a series of stakeholder events was held on Wednesday 5 August at the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe. The event was open to parents and carers of disabled children, private providers and representatives from services across the council who have an interest in shaping the future of short breaks.

49 parents and 17 providers came together to explore the short break needs of disabled children and their families in North Lincolnshire. The event was a joint venture between the Integrated Service for Disabled Children and the Commissioning Team and consisted of a number of presentations including an overview of the current short break services and the short breaks population.

Attendees were involved in a number of table-top discussions and networking opportunities – all to the sound of the children and young people whose morning was occupied by a team of circus skills entertainers and musicians. The event will be followed up by wider consultation with children and young people and a questionnaire to capture the widest possible audience.
